Benedictine College Bowl-a-thon for St. Benedict’s Abbey
We, the students of Benedictine College, are grateful to the monks of St. Benedict’s Abbey for their dedication to our school. As a gesture of our appreciation, we are sponsoring a Bowl-A-Thon March 31 at West Lanes in Atchison. This event will help the monks raise funds for their Share Our Mission capital campaign.
St. Benedict’s Abbey is home to a community of Benedictine monks who arrived in Kansas in 1855. They founded St. Benedict’s College in 1858 (St. Benedict's merged with Mount St. Scholastica College in 1971 to form Benedictine College). The monks completed construction of their current monastery in 1929 and it is in need of major roof repairs and new windows, a costly venture for such a large structure.
St. Benedict’s Abbey is the heartbeat of the Benedictine College community. Benedictine spirituality radiates throughout the campus in the prayers and works of the students, faculty, and staff. The presence of St. Benedict’s Abbey makes us who we are, an authentically Catholic college in the Benedictine tradition.

How it works
Students and supporters who want to participate in the bowl-a-thon need to Register (as soon as possible – as space is limited). When registering, please specify if you are going to bowl or not (you do NOT have to bowl to participate in this worthwhile endeavor!). After registering, a person becomes a “participant” and will receive an e-mail packet explaining the things they can do to support the bowl-a-thon (including some sample e-mails that they can modify and sent to family & friends inviting them to become donors!) By registering, the participant is also eligible to win one of the many prizes that will be awarded during the bowl-a-thon.
A generous list of prizes are available for participants in Benedict's Bowling Bonanza. We are grateful to our sponsors for making it possible. More prizes will be added as we get closer to the event so please keep checking back. See you on the lanes.
